My Vacation In Photos! As promised! Starting at the beginning... ok? Ok! We (mom & I) spent the first night in Sundance, Wyoming. When traveling to the mountains, we usually stay here at the Bear Lodge. (Not visible in the pic below) It's only a one * motel, but the people are nice and the place is always clean and quiet. My kinda place. I have stayed there several times and never had a problem.
This is Cleveland Street in Sundance, Wyoming.
This is a painted boot outside the Aro Restaurant in Sundance. There was at least one more in town that I saw (just visible in the previous pic...), but I'm sure there were more. It's one of those art projects... like the painted ponies of Sante Fe.
Some scenery on the drive between Sundance, Wyoming and Silver Gate, Montana
More scenery. (Expect alot of scenery!)
A nice little stream...
A nice little lake...
A nice little rock. My bil really liked this photo. Said it looked like a postcard.
Rain in the mountains. This is on the Chief Joseph scenic byway.
Still rainy and stuff. Most of the first day and part of the 2nd, it rained!
Still on the Chief Joseph. No more rain... just dark clouds!
This is where we stayed in Silver Gate, Montana. This is the Grizzly Lodge office.
The Soda Butte Creek runs on two sides of the Grizzly Lodge. This is on the left side as you face the lodge.
Across the street from the Grizzly Lodge.
This is the Soda Butte Creek again... this time the right side!
This is behind the Grizzly Lodge
Here's our friend, the Grizzly Lodge squirrel. He was rather noisy until we gave him a scrap of bread. He was a chattering fool and I actually had to run him off after a while because soooo noisy. Don't know if he's used to being fed or what his issue was, but he got annoying in short order! He didn't bother us much after the first night... he either found someone else to give him food or something... Yellowstone! I was fortunate enough to have my mom along... and she's 65 or older (shhhhhh! Don't tell her I told you! ), so instead of having to pay $25 each time we entered the park, she got to buy a card thingy for old people for $10... in doing so, she can enter any National Park for the rest of her days... for FREE! Yay! So... for 3 days in the park, we paid $10! Can't beat a deal like that! First day in the park... about 15 minutes in... and this is what we see...
A black bear, scrounging for some breakfast! Awesome! He was right next to the road, so I got good photos of him. Here are two. (There are a few more.)
I don't know much about black bears, but this one was pretty big, so I'm assuming it was an adult. He was not at all interested in the cars parked along the road taking his photo. I got out of the truck at one point, to get a better shot of him. I did keep the truck between him & I... though he never seemed to notice that I was even there. He was too busy looking for yummies to eat. And... That's all for now. I know. Such a tease I am. You have to understand, though, that I have over 500 photos to sort through, crop, resize, etc and so forth. Ain't no way it's all happening in one day! I really didn't want to do this many all at once, but after I started I sorta got into it. Now I'm tired and ready for a nap. There'll be more soon. Along with some stories... cuz we had quite the "adventure" the first day. Peace... |
